North Cumbria Methodist Circuit
Helping a circuit of churches map tensions and plan resource allocation.
Taskscape provided consultancy to the North Cumbria Methodist Circuit, helping circuit leaders create a development plan by mapping tensions and priorities across a network of churches with competing demands on limited resources.
Brief
The North Cumbria Methodist Circuit was a network of Methodist churches across the region, collectively responsible for allocating resources, managing property and supporting ministry. Circuit leaders sought help making strategic decisions about where resources were best placed and creating a coherent development plan - formalising circuit structures, assessing and reshaping building stock, and aligning ministries with community needs in preparation for the transition to a county-wide circuit.
Activity
- Conducted interviews and workshops with circuit leaders and church representatives
- Mapped tensions, paradoxes and resource allocation challenges across the network
- Documented findings and facilitated planning sessions
Outcomes
- Produced an outline statement of purpose formally agreed by circuit members to guide redevelopment planning, applications and activities across the network
- Informed strategy and specifics of the circuit’s practical redevelopment planning, in the context of its incorporation into a county-wide network
