Shrewsbury School

A feature documentary capturing the end of an era at one of Britain’s oldest boarding schools.

Education + Community Consultancy Content

Taskscape produced a feature-length documentary about Churchill’s Hall at Shrewsbury School and provided communications consultancy to the school’s alumni and development office on the growing importance of web video in marketing and fundraising.

Brief

Shrewsbury School is one of the nine original English ‘public’ schools, founded in 1552. Taskscape was contracted by the housemaster of Churchill’s Hall, with the support of the alumni and development office, to create a feature-length documentary. The film marked a significant moment: the last chapter in the career of Churchill’s longest-serving housemaster, inspired to enter teaching late in life by a tragic accident, and the school’s transition to modern co-education. Taskscape additionally consulted for the alumni and development office on incorporating web video into their communications strategy.

Activity

  • Produced a feature-length documentary about Churchill’s Hall, exploring its culture, its housemaster’s vocation and the transition to co-education
  • Provided consultancy to the alumni and development office on the growing importance of web video in marketing and fundraising

Outcomes

  • The documentary premiered at the school, was shared online and added to the school’s historical archive, to capture a unique moment in time
  • Following the consultancy, the school hired an in-house videographer and made web video part of its internal and external communications workflows
