Foundation for Sustainable Development
Video content and media training for a global network advancing the science of ecosystem services.
Taskscape created web video content and provided media training for the Foundation for Sustainable Development and its flagship programme, the Ecosystem Services Partnership, covering European conferences, the Ecosystem Services Valuation Database and an inaugural summer school.
Brief
The Foundation for Sustainable Development (FSD) is a Netherlands-based NGO working to make nature count in decisions shaping economies and societies worldwide. Its flagship programme, the Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP), is a global network connecting over 3,000 professionals from more than 90 countries to advance the science, policy and practice of ecosystem services. The Ecosystem Services Valuation Database (ESVD), developed by the FSD and ESP community over several decades, is the world’s largest tool of its type. Taskscape was contracted to produce video content and provide media training across several strands of the partnership’s work.
Activity
- Produced web videos covering ESP Europe conferences, highlighting key themes and benefits
- Created videos about the ESVD, sharing its history, features and use cases across domains from finance and health to law
- Ran AI-assisted human verified searches across academic literature and the wider web to identify ESVD users, for use in communications materials
- Produced videos promoting the inaugural Rudolf de Groot Summer School on ecosystem service valuation
- Provided media training through workshops and competitions for Young Ecosystem Services Specialists (YESS) and ESP EU conference attendees, covering panel moderation, on-camera interview and presenting skills, and ‘Video Abstracts’.
Outcomes
- Conference ‘rewind’ videos shared online with the ESP community and used to raise awareness of the conferences more widely
- ESVD and Summer School videos shared online and at events to promote the tool and programme to new audiences
- Workshop and competition videos shared to communicate young researchers’ work
